Due to its geography, Málaga extends from Nieves' Sierra (its highest point) until the shores of Costa del Sol. There are mountainous landscapes of great geologic interest, swamps and rivers. Also you will find valleys with tropical microclimates where mango and avocados trees harvested, dry hills where it grows the jara and the span, extensions of olive and almond trees... and finally the sea. Some places to visit: that we recommend Torcal de Antequera a protected natural place and located in the center of Málaga. It is constituted by a very peculiar geologic formation of calcareous rocks coming from the marine bottom during the Jurassic period -200 million years behind -. The Caves of Nerja ( Cuevas de Nerja): This national monument is a rocky formation of crystalline dolomías of more than 250.000 years. These archaeological locations have a great interest for their good conservation state. Inside the cave they are rupestres paints, human remains of the cro-magnon, tools... Botanical-historical garden of Málaga (Jardín botánico-histórico de Málaga): Created in 1855, it has a beautiful collection of tropical and subtropical flora unique in Europe. The vegetable species come from the five continents.
Sierra de las Nieves ( Sierra de las Nieves) biosphere natural reserve. In Nieves' Sierra we can find the Pinsapo, a tree from the firs family that only proliferates in the Andalusia mountains.
